About Our School

 I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. M. Kromera w Gorlicach is the oldest secondary school in Gorlice county. It was established in 1906. Situated in the centre of our town, it is located in one of the most beautiful and well-kept buildings. The school was named after Marcin Kromer in 1918.

Our school ensures good preparation for final secondary school exams, studies at higher level, competitions and olympiads at various subjects. Our students are also successful at sports at county and regional levels. The students can also take part in after school activities, as there are many students’ organizations such as Students’ Board, UNESCO Club, School’s European Club, Prophylaxis Club, Computer Science Club, Caritas (charity) Club, sports’ clubs and many othersThe subjects taught are humanities, sciences, sports and languages (English, German, Russian, French, Latin, the Lemko language).
Our students have access to many cultural, sports activities as well as school trips and field trips in Polish, History, Geography, Physics and Biology.
 
Currently we are involved in a multilateral Comenius project entitled "3Rs Heritage- Rights, Respect, Responsibility" with schools from Italy, Greece, Turkey and Portugal. The project  concerns human rights, responsibility for natural environment and cultural heritage. It is going to last from September 2010 to August 2012.

Our school has been involved in various projects with foreign schools:
* In 2001/2002 we took part in “Youth and Self- Government” project in Ukraine (the region of Carpathia Mountains)
* In 2003/04 our school took part in a Socrates Comenius Language Project in cooperation with Instituto de Educacion Secundaria Leliadoura from Spain.
* In 2003/04 our school hosted a Socrates Comenius Language Assistant Mr Francesco Scategni, who, among other things, taught Italian to our students.
* In 2005/06 foreign exchange with a German School.
* Keeping e-mail contact with schools in Italy and Slovakia.
